EARLY STAGE

A project by Francesco. Supported by voluntary contributions.

A startup. Built in public.

A dollar.
One million
possibilities.

One million people. $1 each. A startup built out in the open—from the first idea to the first product.

Suggested contribution: $1 USD, one time. No shares or promised returns.

Small contribution.Open decisions.Visible spending.

A small start.
A shared ambition.

I’m Francesco, the person behind A Dollar Startup. The idea is to reach out to wealthy people around the world for a voluntary, symbolic $1 contribution to build a startup in public. Everyone is welcome, regardless of wealth. The product is still to be chosen.

Independent project · Product not yet chosen
01

A dollar of support.

Voluntary support for the first steps of this project. No shares, ownership or promised financial return.

Symbolic support, not an investment
02

A company, built openly.

Publish the budget, prototypes and decisions. Share what works, what fails and what changes along the way.

Progress, with the rough edges included
03

A voice along the way.

Invite the community to help shape the problem, the name and the early product. Feedback and voting are planned, not active.

Participation does not mean ownership

Every dollar.
Out in the open.

The plan is to show contributions, processing fees, refunds and project expenses separately. A million dollars is an ambition—not an existing balance or a guarantee.

Trust is the
first product.

This is an early-stage project run by Francesco as an individual. Read what your support means before contributing.

01Where will the money go?

Your support is intended for the project’s first steps and experiments. The product and detailed spending plan are not finalized. We’ll propose how project funds would be used before spending them and publish actual expenses. Processing fees are deducted from payments, and financial figures will be shared separately from the amount supporters contribute.

02What does my dollar buy?

It is voluntary support for the project. You are not buying a product, shares or a loan, and there is no promised financial return. Community input is advisory; no ownership rights are offered.

03How will decisions be shared?

The plan is to gather early contributions and suggestions for problems to solve from anyone, whether or not they donate. I’ll shortlist three feasible ideas, explaining their costs and challenges, and ask the community for feedback. I’ll then choose which prototype to build and explain why. I’ll share progress, actual expenses and results, including failures. Community input is advisory and carries no decision-making rights. Suggestion and feedback tools are planned, but are not available on this site yet.

04What if the plan changes?

The product may change, and neither success nor the $1 million ambition is guaranteed. This is not an all-or-nothing campaign tied to a delivery date. For a question about your contribution or a refund request, contact Francesco through the contribution page.

Before you
join in.

An independent public experiment. No investment, ownership or financial return.

01Is this an investment?

No. There are no shares, no ownership and no financial return. It's a contribution to a public experiment.

02Is this an MLM or a "make money" scheme?

No. You don't earn anything and there is nothing to recruit. A Dollar Startup is an independent public experiment.

03What will you build?

The product isn't decided yet. First, we'll gather contributions and problems suggested by anyone, including people who don't donate. Next, Francesco will shortlist three feasible ideas, explain their costs and challenges, and ask the community for feedback. Then he'll choose a prototype, explain why, and share progress, spending and results. Community input is advisory. Suggestion and feedback tools are not available on this site yet.

04Where does the money go?

Contributions support the project's first steps and experiments. We'll propose uses before spending and publish actual expenses. See the project finances for recorded contributions and which figures are available.

THE FIRST MILESTONE

100 contributions.
Build from there.

Our first milestone: 100 contributions and three feasible ideas to evaluate. A million dollars is the long-term ambition; we’ll start choosing and testing ideas well before then.
